European Surgical Outcomes Study (EuSOS)

Overview

EuSOS is a multi-centre, international seven-day evaluation of patient care and clinical outcomes for patients undergoing major general surgery (non-cardiac, non-neuro).

Background

Recruitment into this study took place between 4th April 2011 and 11th April 2011. EuSOS received ethical approval in the UK and was adopted onto the UKCRN Portfolio.

The study was conceived and led by Prof Rupert Pearse (Barts and the London) who is the International Chief Investigator. The UK Coordinators were Prof Mike Grocott (Southampton, UCL) and Dr David Goldhill (Stanmore, UCL). The study was managed in the UK by the NIAA Health Services Research Centre (HSRC).
