National Institute of Academic Anaesthesia (NIAA) Research Council Chair
We are inviting applications for the role of Chair of the NIAA Research Council, which will become vacant in June 2017.
The post holder will be expected to provide senior leadership and academic support to the NIAA Research Council, as well as developing and delivering the research strategy of the NIAA as set out by the NIAA Board. An understanding and support of the NIAA Vision, Mission and Strategy is also essential.
The NIAA Research Council Chair is a co-opted member of the NIAA Board, and the appointment is a three-year fixed term contract subject to review by the NIAA Board and RCoA Council, renewable for a further three-year term.
The successful applicant will need to be able to develop and maintain good working relationships with NIAA funding partners and stakeholders, as well as other major funders such as MRC, NIHR, and the Wellcome Trust, as well as representing the NIAA at national and international research forums.
There are two scheduled NIAA Research Council meetings per year, and the Research Council Chair will also be expected to attend NIAA Board meetings - of which there are four per year. The role will formally commence in June 2017, and a handover with the outgoing Research Council Chair is scheduled for April-May 2017. There is no direct remuneration for this role however all reasonable expenses will be covered by the RCoA.
