Recruiting Now: PCPIE Deputy Chair

Patient, Carer & Public Involvement & Engagement (PCPIE) in research is a partnership between patients, carers and the public, and researchers, to try and make the research process more effective.

The NIAA Health Services Research Centre (HSRC) set up the PCPIE Working Group in 2013, offering researchers the opportunity to seek feedback and guidance from a lay or patient perspective on trial proposals.

The Group is made up of a Chair and Deputy Chair - both clinical roles - and a number of lay representatives that are mostly members of the RCoA Lay Committee.

The HSRC is currently recruiting a Deputy Chair to support the clinical activities of the Group alongside the Chair. The role includes:

  • Planning and co-chairing meetings of the PCPIE Working Group (at the RCoA in London, 3-4 times per year - see dates below)
  • Providing co-ordinated structured feedback to researchers on requests for patient/lay input on clinical research study proposals
  • Supporting lay PCPIE members in developing expertise in patient, carer and public involvement and engagement in research

This is a voluntary position with no direct remuneration however all reasonable expenses will be covered. It is a 3-year fixed term appointment and is renewable for a further 3-year period on the agreement of the PCPIE Chair.
