Research Interest

Cardiothoracic anaesthesia specifically RV function following lung resection. Currently undertaking a 2 year full time MD project investigating mechanisms of RV dysfunction following lung resection. Bulk of research focuses on the pulsatile component of afterload and its measurement with cardiac MRI and wave intensity analysis.
Also interested in lung injury with one lung ventilation and have published an abstract on "Nitrosative stress in one lung ventilation".
Currently planning an exercise echocardiography pilot study to investigate contractile reserve changes following lung resection with the hypothesis that the RV is unable to increase its output on exercise following the acute peri-operative insult during one lung ventilation and lung resection.

Research Expertise

Competent in R and mathematical analysis. Currently programming combining flow and cross-sectional area changes throughout the cardiac cycle in the pulmonary arteries.
Completed Cardiac MRI at King's College and have reported over 75 CMRs of pulmonary arteries.

Research Areas

Peri-operative changes in afterload/impdenece during one lung ventilation and clinical application of wave intensity analysis.
